Overclocking

Overclocking the older GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB was such a difficult task that it was unadvisable to do so and as such, we feared the worst for the GeForce 7900 GTX despite the fact it is using a new core. From what we found out, the GeForce 7900 GTX too wasn't a very encouraging overclocker as we cranked up the clocks from the ASUS default of 650/1600MHz to a maximum stable clock speed of 680/1760MHz DDR. Overall performance gain at this speed comes out to be a paltry 5% and in our opinion, we wouldn't bother taxing the card at its limits to waste the hefty investment.
