Despite the use of an unpretentious cooler unit on the GeForce 7900 GT, it is quite a bit cooler than the GeForce 7800 GTX. The card is also physically shorter in depth, lighter, requires a regular cooler and costs less. As you can see, the benefits of the G71 core are very obvious all around. Even the memory components required no active cooling and were in fact clocked faster than those on the GeForce 7800 GTX.

So what about noise levels? Unfortunately, the ASUS EN7900GT was not as silent as the GeForce 7800 GTX. It was comparatively more audible, but it did not ever exhibit the disturbing and troubling feel like the stock coolers of the Radeon X1000 series. The Radeon X1000 series is possibly the only collection of graphics cards in history where we could blatantly label them as noisy and even giving them second thoughts of buying one because of their din. Thankfully, the ASUS EN7900GT was nowhere in that pretext. Since most other standard GeForce 7900 GT cards use a similar cooler as the ASUS, we have reasons to believe that it represents the norm of all others in its class (at least till we review more of such cards and verify this in concrete).
