Acer Aspire Timeline X 5820TG - Timeless Classic

Timeless Classic

We've been loving the Acer Aspire Timeline design since it came out about more than a year back, and while the design hasn't been updated (and here's where we insert puns about how the Timeline's design is timeless), it's still a very decent looking notebook that doesn't yet feel dated given how fast some notebook manufacturers like to revamp their designs every year.

If you've seen any of the Timeline X series before, then you'll note that the Timeline X 5820TG, the 15.6-inch notebook, is no different from the rest, differing only in size. Hardware wise, the notebook is loaded up with pretty decent stuff; it's not a top of the line Intel Core i7 quad-core machine, but rather an Intel Core i5-430M that's clocked at 2.26GHz, 2GB RAM and an ATI Radeon HD 5650 for the discrete graphics.

This should be sufficient horsepower to run almost everything including games (though not at the highest settings obviously), and we will also be testing Acer's battery life claims (which they rate at 8 hours or so) to see how good this laptop does.

The Acer Aspire Timeline X 5820TG looks just like every other Acer Aspire Timeline X notebook out there. No surprises here, folks.

The ports located on the left side are just these three USB 2.0 ports and the optical drive. This means no confusion on where to plug in your USB devices!

The front is where you'll find the multi-card reader.

The left side houses the VGA output, HDMI port, Gigabit LAN jack, one more USB 2.0 port and the audio in and out jacks.
