MSI has released a limited edition GeForce GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6G Golden Edition, a card with something of a festive cheer.

Okay, not exactly. The card’s name comes from the all-copper heatsink that should do a good job of channelling heat away from the GPU die. Copper is heavy, so the metal backplate comes in handy to provide some much needed structural support.

But if you’re worried about copper oxidizing, MSI says that the heatsinks and heatpipes have been given the anti-oxidation treatment.

The card looks very similar to the MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6G, including the general design of the Twin Frozr V cooler. But unlike that card, this golden GPU’s clock speeds have been ratcheted up to a 1,190MHz base clock and 1,291MHz boost clock in OC mode.

Like other MSI cards, there are also Gaming and Silent modes, which take the clock speeds down a notch for a more quiet experience.

The MSI Gaming dragon insignia on the backplate has also been given a makeover. It now stands out from the backplate with a bright copper color, instead of fading into the background with the subtle black-on-black emboss of the original GeForce GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6G. Similarly, the cooling shroud's red accents have been replaced with the same copper color.

MSI also recently announced the GeForce GTX 980 Ti Lightning and Sea Hawk, making this the third custom GeForce GTX 980 Ti to come out from MSI in just over a month.
