Yahoo recently announced that its mail service, Yahoo Mail has received a major update on its 16th birthday. The mail service's look had been updated with a more contemporary design that was first seen on Yahoo's recently launched weather app. There are plenty of clean lines, as well as transparency effects (also seen in iOS7) that improves the readability of text when you're using a photo as a wallpaper. Wallpapers are applied as themes, and are synced across all platforms. Photos used are sourced from Yahoo owned Flickr, and can be changed on the fly without trudging through layers of settings options.
For users who aren't particular about how their email looks, there's also a storage boost for all users. Each user now have 1TB of storage, which is more than the 15GB of shared storage that Google provides. Features that were only available to Mail Plus users have been made free for all users. Users can now create disposable email addresses, up to 200 filters, use mail forwarding, and download messages with desktop email applications and access them offline. Besides freebies, Yahoo also made enhancements to the service's usuability, which is now more elegant and intuitive.
We redesigned Yahoo Mail to be more efficient, too. Things you do all of the time like search, starring, and deleting are now one-click actions that appear when you hover over an email. We also wanted to give you more breathing room in your inbox, so you can collapse the left-hand toolbar to be more productive.
