WinZip On Your Phone

WinZip has been around for ages. For many PC users, it's the preferred file compression software when we need to send files around, be it for work or for personal use. Now, thanks to the new WinZip app, unzipping files no longer need to be done on a desktop environment. This is especially handy when you receive zipped files while on the move (for example, via email or cloud storage).

The WinZip app first appeared on iOS, but is now available for Android handsets as well. Functionality of the app is fairly simple. It lets you open .rar files - which traditionally requires the WinRAR software -  as well as .zip files (of course). It also allows you to dive deeper into the compressed folder to access other files without uncompressing it first. Unfortunately though, it's not yet possible to zip your files up with either mobile operating systems.

The app is now available for download on the Apple App Store, and the Google Play Store for free.
