Windows Phone Roadmap Leaked, Tango and Apollo Updates in Q2 and Q4 2012
Looks like we won't have to wait too long for another Windows Phone update. A supposedly leaked roadmap for Microsoft's mobile operating system gives us an insight to what the Redmond-based company is planning for the next year.
Within Q2 2012, the next update, codenamed Tango, will be introduced, followed by Apollo that's slated for Q4 2012. The latter is rumored to be the next jump to Windows Phone 8, much like how Microsoft updated Windows Phone to version 7.5 for Mango, while NoDo is just a minor update that's still designated as Windows Phone 7.
Interestingly, the roadmap also indicates the market segment Microsoft will be targeting with these updates. The Tango update will see products with a more affordable price point. Considering the fact that Nokia is now fully on board with Windows Phone, it's not that surprising to see new and affordable Nokia devices.
Its Apollo update is probably the highlight for 2012. With the aim to increase its overall volume, producing competitive smartphones and finally targeting business users, this might be the major update that includes support for near field communication, enterprise solutions and any other surprises that Microsoft might have for its competitors.
