Western Digital MyCloud EX4

Western Digital has just expanded its personal cloud storage lineup with the My Cloud EX4. The My Cloud EX4 is a high-performance, 4-bay personal cloud storage that allows users, through the My Cloud app available for iOS and Android devices, to access their content from anywhere in the world. In addition, the My Cloud EX4 will also offer integration with popular cloud services such as DropBox, SkyDrive and Google Drive.

As a 4-bay personal cloud storage system, the My Cloud EX4 will offer up to a maximum of 16TB of storage. It also has a USB 3.0 port to instantly and quickly expand storage. The device will also support common RAID configurations such as RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10.

Western Digital recommends pairing the MyCloud EX4 with their Red drives, which were specially designed for NAS applications.

Furthermore, the My Cloud EX4 can function a number of varied roles. Apart from being a personal cloud storage system, it can also double up as a media server, FTP server and P2P download server.

As for pricing, the My Cloud EX4 will retail for S$599 (drive-less), while 8TB, 12TB and 16TB models are available at S$1219, S$1449 and S$1729 respectively. The My Cloud EX4 will come with Western Digital's NAS-optimized Red drives for enhanced reliability and will be configured to occupy all four bays. This means the 8TB model will come with four drives of 2TB each and so on.

What's more, My Cloud EX4 is built with Easy-Slide-Drive technology and this means tool-less drive removal and installations. Hot-swapping drives can now be done in a matter of seconds.
