VisionTek has just announced the CryoVenom graphics card with a custom built water cooling system. The CryoVenom features an overclocked AMD Radeon R9 290 GPU that is cooled by a water block, and a backplate solution, ensuring its optimal performance under extreme temperatures.
Besides its overclocked GPU, the card’s memory modules are also overclocked. According to VisionTek, the R9 290 core has a performance ceiling rated at 1175MHz, an increment of about 18% over the default clock speed of 1000MHz. Its video memory buffer has been rated at 1450MHz; the default value is 1250MHz.
The unique selling point of the CryoVenom is a somewhat hassle-free water-cooling experience, topped off with a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty for the entire package, of card and cooling system. Since the fan is cooled without any fans, its operating noise level is less than 10dB. In comparison, the noise levels of air-cooled graphics cards are usually in the 60- to 70dB range.
