Verify Safety of Your Online Accounts with McAfee's Heartbleed Checker

By now you’ve probably heard about the Heartbleed Bug and how it’s a major security flaw that may affect nearly two-thirds of all websites online. That your login information may potentially be compromised is scary enough, but before you go rush out to change all your passwords, make sure your online services have updated their services to compensate for the vulnerability. Otherwise, you'll just be flushing out more passwords through the same loophole.

Verify your safety by popping over to McAfee’s newly released Heartbleed Test Tool and enter the URL or IP Address of the web service you’re concerned about. The scan will give you one of three results – Vulnerability Not Detected, Vulnerability Detected, or Not Vulnerable, which pretty much indicates how badly the site has been affected. Quick and easy, plus it's free.

To find out more about the Heartbleed bug and the measures you can take to protect yourself, look up some of our previous posts, McAfee’s blog post  or the Heartbleed Bug website. LastPass.com also offers a scanning tool, and Mashable offers a list of popular websites, whether they have been affected, and what measures they’ve taken to counter the bug.
