Besides being the first in the world to launch a 13.3-inch Chromebook, Toshiba has also recently revealed two notebooks that are the first in the world to come with ultra HD (4k) displays -- the Tecra W50 and the Satellite P50t. Both machines have 15.6-inch ultra HD (3840 x 2160 pixels resolution) displays, which gives them a pixel density of 282PPI. This trumps the HP Envy 14 notebook's 3200 x 1800 pixels display resolution and 262PPI.
Toshiba Tecra W50
The Toshiba Tecra W50 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation that's built for professionals, and made to handle intensive visual and engineering tasks. It comes with the latest fourth generation Intel Core processor and a powerful Kepler-based NVIDIA Quadro K2100M GPU with 2GB of dedicated video RAM.
Toshiba Satellite P50t
The Satelite P50t is an entertainment machine targeted more at consumers. It was launched by Toshiba last year, but had been updated a 4K display, as well as a fourth generation Intel Core processor. The P50t's display, unlike the display on the Tecra W50, is touch enabled, and features edge-to-edge glass that provides great color, clarity and contrast.
Both machines will be available in the middle of 2014, but take note that this availability only applies to the US market for now. Once we get our hands on local pricing and availability, we will keep this space updated so keep a lookout for them here at HardwareZone.
