Toshiba Announces Launch of the World’s Fastest microSD Cards

Toshiba Corporation announced the introduction of the World’s fastest microSD cards on 17th April 2014.

Available in 32GB and 64GB capacities, the new cards are compliant with UHS-II – the ultra high speed serial bus interface defined in SD Memory Card Standard Ver 4.20.

The 32GB cards will have maximum read speed of 260MBps, and a write speed of 240MBps, while the 64GB cards will have a maximum read speed of 145MBps and a write speed of 130MBps, all the fastest transfer rates in the industry. Compared to Toshiba’s current 32GB microSD UHS-I cards, this translates to an increase in write speed of approximately 8 times, while read speeds are boosted by approximately 2.7 times.

This means the cards will easily be able to support high-quality 4K video capture at a constant rate of 30MBps, and also means camera users will be able to shoot high resolution digital images continuously at high speed. Sample shipments for set manufacturers of smart phones, chipset vendors and other mobile devices have already begun.
