Swedish Website Lists Microsoft Surface Tablet Prices

After the Surface was launched, Microsoft revealed almost every aspect a buyer would need to know about the tablets; from specifications to build quality. But one last bit of information has been left out -- their prices. Thanks to a Swedish online store Webhallen (as reported by Mashable), we now have a rough idea of how much the Surface tablets cost.

Webahallen Price: 3rd Gen 64GB 3G iPad = 7059 KR (SGD$1277) / Singapore price: 3rd Gen 64GB 3G iPad = SGD$1088

  • 64GB Windows RT Surface (ARM) = 9990 KR (SGD$1807)
  • 128GB Windows Pro Surface = 14990 KR (SGD$2712)

A 64GB Windows RT (ARM) tablet with 3G presumably built in, costs 9,990 Swedish Kronas (SGD$1,807). The top of the line Windows Surface for Windows Pro tablet with 128GB of storage costs 14,990 Swedish Krona (SGD$2,712.80).

For comparison's sake, a 3rd-generation iPad with 3G and 64GB storage costs 7,059 Swedish Kronas on Webhallen which translates to about SGD$1,277. An identical iPad would sell for about SGD$1,088 here in Singapore. Now that's a lot of money to pay for a tablet that also doubles as a portable personal computer. For comparison, an 11-inch Macbook Air with 128GB storage costs about SGD$1,488.

And since we can't read Swedish, we're unable to find out when the tablets will be available or if they are shipped overseas. So Windows tablet fans, hold your horses until Microsoft makes a definitive announcement on when the tablets will reach Singapore. If you can't wait, there is always the Samsung Slate PC which goes for SGD$1,688 for 64GB storage, which works pretty well with Windows 8 (Release Preview).
