Super Mario Run is off to a good start as data from analytics firm Apptopia shows that the game was downloaded 2.85 million times in its first day of availability on the Apple's App Store.

Taking in account that the game was launched in 150 countries, it is no surprise that Super Mario Run surpassed Pokémon GO which had 900,000 downloads in its first day. However, Pokémon GO still holds the record for the most number of downloads in the first week of launch on Apple's App Store.

Another app analytics firm, Sensor Tower estimated that Super Mario Run will be downloaded more than 50 million times worldwide in the first month. Worldwide gross revenue is predicted to be US$71 million for the same period.
