Super Mario Run is coming to Android in March

Super Mario Run is finally coming to Android devices in March. Nintendo put out a tweet with the news today, just over a month after the game launched on iOS.

The automatic runner game is Nintendo’s first proper foray into mobile games (the company didn’t actually create Pokémon Go), and the company has two further games, Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem:Heroes, planned for release in 2017. In fact, Fire Emblem is coming to both Android and iOS as soon as 2 February.

But while Super Mario Run was eagerly anticipated by legions of fans who grew up with the iconic character, some estimates from external parties have suggested that a mere three per cent of users ended up paying for the full game.

Still, according to an IDC report, Android comprised 86.8 per cent of the smartphone OS market against iOS’ 12.5 per cent in the third quarter of 2016, so there’s still a huge untapped base of potential customers who haven’t even tried the game yet.
