StarHub calls on customers to participate in the 4G4Good charity campaign
Are you a StarHub Mobile post-paid customer? The telco has an ongoing 4G4Good initiative where you can donate your unused talktime, mobile data, and SMS messages of your August billing cycle for charity purposes.
To be specific, the free talktime, mobile data, and SMS collected will be used to support 500 beneficiaries on a monthly basis (starting from October 2014) for one year. These beneficiaries are from AWWA (Asian Women’s Welfare Association), CPAS (Cerebral Palsy Alliance Singapore), ISCOS (Industrial & Services Co-Operative Society), SAVH (Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped), and SPD (Society for the Physically Disabled). These organizations were selected as their clients and caregivers could benefit greatly from mobile communication to stay in touch with their loved ones, potential employers, and medical help, but they’re in circumstances where maintaining a mobile communication device is difficult or impossible.
To pledge your unused mobile data, minutes and SMS, simply message Opt-in to 6904 by August 31, 2014.
In addition, if you or your family and friends (even if they aren’t StarHub customers) have pre-loved smartphones and chargers, you can also donate them to these beneficiaries via StarHub Shops at Bedok Mall, Tampines Mall, Plaza Singapura, and Westgate, as well as at StarHub’s corporate office at StarHub Green. Donations can be made in sealed StarHub envelopes that are available at donation boxes at the aforementioned locations. This drive will take place until December 31, 2014. Naturally, StarHub will ensure all data in donated phones are wiped clean to protect their owners’ privacy.
