Spotify Connect announces support for new devices as it celebrates its first anniversary of service
It’s been a year since Spotify Connect was launched, and in this one year, the service has expanded to include more than 80 speakers and home audio systems from the world’s leading brands. Spotify says that number is set to rise to over 100 devices with products ranging from €50 to €2000, with Bose, Panasonic and Gramofon amongst then.
The range of products between these brands increases the reach of Spotify Connect, and the partnership with Gramofon in particular allows users to upgrade their existing stereos with Spotify Connect.
Spotify Connect will also be available on Smart TVs and Multi Room systems:
- Smart TVs: Philips TVs powered by Android will launch with Spotify Connect installed, allowing you to play music straight from your TV, using your smart phone, tablet or Philips TV remote to control and play your tunes seamlessly.
- Multi Room: Spotify Connect now allows you to group several speakers in your home to play the same music. Conversely, if you have different Spotify users in the home, Spotify Connect will allow you to stream different music (from different accounts) in different rooms, so everyone can listen to their favorite music.
“Our mission with Connect was to give people a better way to listen at home, and we have delivered exactly that for music fans all over the world in just one year,”says Sten Garmark, VP Product at Spotify. "We wanted to offer a broad range of devices, and our partners have delivered an incredible range of innovative Multi Room systems, receivers, radios and dongles for every budget. This is just the beginning. Our goal is to put Connect devices into the home of every music fan on the planet.”
