Specs and Image of LG Optimus G Pro Leaked (Update)
*Update as of 22/01/2013 12.40 pm: Japan's telco NTT DoCoMo just confirmed that it will be launching the LG Optimus G Pro. Consumers in Japan have to wait until April to get the device. There is still no official word from LG on the device or its availability outside Japan.
LG Electronics is clearly not resting on its laurels despite the commercial success of its current flagship device, the Optimus G. A leaked slide obtained by Engadget reveals that the Korean company is preparing a new flagship model to take on its rivals in the 5-inch phone segment. Known as the Optimus G Pro, its alleged specs include:
- 5-inch Full-HD display / 1920 x 1080 pixels
- Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core 1.7GHz processor
- 2GB RAM
- 13-megapixel rear camera / 2.4-megapixel front-facing camera
- 32GB internal storage
- 4G LTE connectivity
- 3000mAh battery
- 139 x 70 x 10.1mm
- 160g
Judging from its specs list, the Optimus G will go up against the likes of the HTC Butterfly, Huawei Ascend D2 and Sony Xperia Z. It bests the competition in some aspects such as a larger battery capacity and a faster quad-core processor.
At the moment, it seems that Japan's NTT DoCoMo will be among the first telcos to sell the LG Optimus G Pro. With MWC 2013 coming up next month, there is a chance that the 5-inch smartphone will make its first official appearance.
