Sony's new Action Cam comes with 4K video recording and OIS
GoPro's upcoming refresh of its action cams will face plenty of competition as Sony just announced its latest flagship Action Camera, the FDR-X3000R.
The main features of the X3000R are its 4K video recording, Balanced Optical SteadyShot2 (commonly known as optical image stabilization), a new ZEISS® Tessar lens with less lens distortion, a new back-illuminated Exmor R® CMOS 8.2-megapixel sensor with large pixels designed for 16:9 aspect ratio video, and a refined user interface for easier navigation.
Other specs include time-lapse capture, built-in GPS, splashproof and freezeproof chassis (will be dustproof, shockproof and waterproof up to 60m with optional Underwater Housing), and a weight of 114g.
The X3000R will be available in the U.S from the end of this month for US$400 (~S$543). If you do not need the 4K video recording, you can get the AS3000R for US$300 (~S$407).
