Security issues at Sony has caused it to lock down over 93,000 user accounts as a precautionary measures. The affected onlines services are Sony Entertainment Network, PlayStation Network and Sony Online Entertainment ("Networks").
Sony is currently reviewing the affected accounts and has stated that no credit card information has been comprised. In the event of any unauthorized purchases made with the digital wallets associated with the online accounts, Sony states that it would "work" with the affected users to have the amounts restored to their associated wallets.
Compared to the security breach Sony suffered in May this year, this current matter was better handled as Sony broke the news of it soon after it discovered unauthorized access of user accounts on its various online services. With this current fiasco, it represents another major blow to Sony's reputation in safeguarding the data of its online customers and it will be an uphill climb for Sony to restore consumers' confidence.
