Sony’s new audio products give you high resolution audio on the go

Sony has just announced a slew of audio products that “bring you closer to the spirit and soul of the artist’s original performance”, with a new digital music player, several High-Resolution headphones, some hybrid in-ear headphones and a quality headphone amplifier at IFA 2014.

The new Sony Walkman NWZ-A15 digital music player gives you excellent audio on the go.

The stylish Sony Walkman NWZ-A15 Digital Music Player features Sony’s unique S-Master HX digital amplifier – an advanced amplifier that accurately produces massive amounts of wide-bandwidth audio with minimal noise or distortion. Only the utmost care has been taken in the production of the Walkman NWZ-A15, with a high-grade POSCAP capacitor used as the charge pump of its S-Master HX digital amplifier, thus minimizing noise and distortion, while thickened wires have been used in its power supply lines, further reducing distortion and impedance. DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) HX technology automatically upscales lower-bitrate CD recordings or heavily-compressed MP3 files by recreating lost high-frequency information, providing you with near-High Resolution clarity.

Meanwhile, the headband-type Sony MDR-Z7 High-Resolution headphones makes extensive use of advanced materials to elevate your listening experience, starting from a new 70mm HD driver unit that completely envelops your ears, thus revealing every musical nuance with stunning accuracy. Critical high frequencies are reproduced faithfully right up to 100 kHz, while the MDR-Z7 effortlessly creates an immense soundstage that envelops the listener, allowing for a “3D listening” experience. Impactful music with great details in the highs and the lows, thanks to the aluminum-coated Liquid Crystal Polymer diaphragms that minimize colorization across the spectrum. Large, pressure-relieving urethane ear-cushions offer an excellent combination of isolation and comfort, while a 4-wire structure of the headphone’s cables means separate ground cables are used, minimizing crosstalk between the left and right channels, supporting balanced audio output.

Finally, an additional cable with silver-coated OFC (Oxygen Free Copper) cable strands to reduce signal transmission loss is provided for direct connection to devices with balanced audio output, like Sony’s new PHA-3 amplifier, which converts Hi-Res signals (PCM 384 kHz/32 bit and DSD) to analogue for output through your headphones using high-end D/A conversion that ensures “a remarkably spacious, three-dimensional soundstage with superb channel separation”. Small enough to fit into your pocket, the PHA-3’s balanced output perfectly fits the MDR-Z7 headphones, so you get an absolutely clean signal for the best audio experience possible.
The Sony XBA-Z5 earphones will immerse you in music thanks to its three-way driver system.

Ever been so caught up in your music that you’ve felt that you could “feel the air”? That’s what Sony is hoping to produce with its new XBA Hybrid headphones, starting with the premium XBA-Z5 that comes with a unique HD Hybrid three-way driver system which features a 16mm dynamic driver unit and two Balanced Armature driver units – full range and magnesium HD super tweeters for fantastic audio performance from deep bass to radiant high notes. Expect high-resolution audio with a wide soundspace, thanks to the use of newly-developed Linear Drive Balanced Armature to deliver clear mid-range high-frequency sound thanks to a direct coupling between the armature and diaphragm.

The MDR-XB950BT's deep bass will get you grooving.

Get grooving to the beat with Sony’s MDR-XB950BT, the first Bluetooth model in Sony’s Extra Bass (XB) range. With big 40mm high magnetic density neodymium magnet driver units, these headphones reproduce wobble from the deepest sub-bass effortlessly. Want to feel like you’re on the dance floor of your favorite club? Simply activate the Electro Bass Booster and the headphones will go even lower. Thanks to the Advanced Direct Vibe Structure, the space between the MDR-XB950BT’s and your eardrums become a sealed space, allowing for tightly-focused reproduction of sub-bass sounds. Pair that with a pair of soft-designed cushions that fit comfortably around your ears, and you’ve got a formula for hours of musical enjoyment.

The MDR-ZX550BNs give you up to 25 hours of continuous playback with noise cancelling activated.

Finally, the MDR-ZX550BN are on-ear wireless headphones that feature built-in noise cancelling that reduces up to 90% of ambient sound. It features extra-long 25 hours of continuous playback time (with noise-cancelling and Bluetooth activated), and folds away neatly for storage or travel. 30mm Dome-type driver units produce clear and rich sound, so slip on a pair of MDR-ZX550BNs and let the music wash away the stress of that jerky coach ride or long-haul flight.

All the products above will be available at authorized Sony dealers by mid-October 2014. Pricing to be announced.
