Sony Reveals Android Update Roadmap for its Mobile Devices

 The Sony Xperia Z (left), Z1 (middle) and Z Ultra (right) will be updated to Android 4.3 starting next month. These devices will also be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat.

A week after Google announced Android 4.4 KitKat, Sony shares details of its Android upgrade roadmap in a blog post. According to Sony, the following devices will be upgraded to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean starting next month.

Some of its smartphone models - the Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V - will skip Android 4.2 and be updated to Android 4.3 from next month. As for Android 4.4 KitKat, the list of devices include:

  • Sony Xperia Z
  • Sony Xperia ZL
  • Sony Xperia Tablet Z
  • Sony Xperia Z Ultra
  • Sony Xperia Z1

Sony did not share a specific time frame as to when these devices will be updated to Android 4.4. Users of these devices can follow the @SonyMobileNews twitter account for the latest news on product upgrade timings. Do note that software rollouts are a phased process – timings & availability may vary by markets and telcos.
