Sony announces launch of new wireless multi-room speakers
Sony has just announced major additions to their consumer audio line of products, and amongst them are a selection of new wireless multi-room speakers that connect to music services like Google Cast and Spotify Connect through Sony’s SongPal app.
The SRS-X99 is the largest of the line-up, measuring 43.0x 13.3x12.5 cm and weighing 4.7kg. It features a 7-speaker system with two extra up-firing tweeters and a 94mm diameter subwoofer that promises deep and tight bass. It supports up to 24bit/192kHz High Resolution Audio(HRA) in ALAC, FLAC and AIFF and DSD playback, and features Sony’s DSEE HX and S-Master HX technologies for optimal playback. For occasions where you want to use the speaker in places without a Wi-Fi network, there’s also Bluetooth with NFC support for direct pairing.
Meanwhile, the slightly smaller SRS-X88 packs a 5-speaker system with dual passive radiators that give you up to 90W of power. It measures just 35.9 x 11.1x10.3 cm and weighs about 2.7 kg, making it almost literally half the size of the SRS-X99 before it. This too has full support for HRA, and promises clear highs resonating bass, and a well-rounded sound.
Users who want more portability might do well to look up the SRS-X77. This has just two full range passive radiators and an up-firing tweeter but it measures just 30.0x13.2x6.0cm and weighs only 1.9kg making it portable enough to bring with you anywhere.
Enjoy multi-room streaming from a pair of quality bookshelf speakers with Sony’s CMT0SX7! Rounding up the new multi-room capable wireless speaker line-up is the CMT-SX7 CD/DVD/Tuner Micro Hi-Fi System that offers you a true HRA listening experience right in your living room. Because the CMT-SX7 is Wi-Fi enabled, it too allows you to access various music streaming services via Google Cast, and you’ll be able to control playback remotely via the SongPal app.
The SRS-X99, SRS-X88, SRS-X77 and the CMT-SX7 will be available at all major authorized Sony retailers from June 2015, but pricing information has yet to be released.
