Sony Announces 10.1-inch Xperia Tablet Z in Japan (Update)

Update: As correctly predicted, the Xperia Z tablet will be made available globally from Spring 2013. The device will launch with a number of accessories including a charging cradle, an LCD Screen Protector and Leather Carrying Cover that comes in Black, White or Red.
Hot on the official unveiling of its Xperia Z handphone at CES 2013, Sony Japan has just announced a new tablet called, well, the Android 4.1 Xperia Tablet Z (upgradeable to Android 4.2 after launch). Like its sibling, it comes with high-end specs like a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200p screen, 4G LTE, 8.1 megapixel camera and a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm chip. The mind-blowing thing about the tablet is that it is really thin at 6.9mm, beating Apple's iPad Mini, 7.2mm in thickness, at its game.
There's no news whether it will hit global shelves at the moment, but with Sony's current push for its mobile devices finally taking off, we wouldn't be surprised to see it selling outside Japan.
