"Smartify" Your DSLR Camera with a Weye Feye Attachment
Several new cameras these days make a concerted effort to package in smart features to help users quickly transfer out their best shots to your phone where you can quickly share it on Instagram or Facebook. But what if you've got a perfectly good DSLR, but it's just lacking smart connectivity?
This is where the XSories Weye Feye steps in to fill the gap. Looking no larger than a beefy mobile battery pack, it packs a 2000mAh battery and generates its own 802.11n Wi-Fi network for wireless and remote control of your DSLR camera via an app (available for iOS and Android devices). The company touts that the device generates a strong signal that can reach out to as far as 80 meters and has low latency to maintain a pleasant user experience.
The gives users controls such as live view, touch focus, remote manual focus, remote settings of popular camera controls (ISO, aperture, shutter speed, white balance), shooting modes and even metering modes. Take note that its compatibility list is limited to most Nikon and Canon DSLRs.
For US$249, the gadget is a bit steeply priced, but it offers a new lease of life to your perfectly functioning DSLR with more features.
Those of you on a budget and don’t require remote shooting/control options, the company also offers an even newer Weye Feye S model that's only designed to help you transfer photos taken on the camera. This US$99 device works with most cameras in general (PTP based and those that support the USB Mass Storage protocol).
