Shipment of Four-Inch Screens Underway for New iOS Device

Barely two months after the release of the iPhone 4S, the rumor mill is already churning out reports of the "next big thing" from Apple, with the latest news scoop from Macotakara claiming that shipment of 4-inch displays has already begun for a new iOS device.

Mac Rumors - "According to Asian source, Hitachi Displays, Ltd. and Sony Mobile Display Corporation started to ship 4-inch LCD for new iOS device and LCD for iPad 3. These 2 companies will be merging their business with Toshiba Mobile Display Co., Ltd., as "Japan Display" in 2012 spring."

While the report does not provide information on which specific iOS device will be using the 4-inch screens, chances are, it is meant for the next generation iPhone. It is widely speculated that the next iPhone will feature a design revamp from a bigger screen size to a slimmer profile.
