*Update as of 21/1/2013 10.56 pm: iNews24 reports that Samsung's mobile chief JK Shin has confirmed that the company will be unveiling the Galaxy Note 8 at MWC 2013.
Samsung may have released several tablets with different sizes (7.0, 7.7, 8.9, 10.1-inch), but it is rumored to be introducing an 8-inch tablet at MWC 2013 next month.
According to SamMobile, the upcoming 8-inch tablet is called the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. It is reported to come in two versions: Wi-Fi (GT-N5100) and cellular (GT-5110). SamMobile claims to have obtained a complete spec list for the Galaxy Note 8.0:
- Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
- 8-inch Super Clear LCD display / 1280 x 800 pixels
- 2GB RAM
- 16GB or 32GB internal storage (microSD support up to 32GB)
- 5-megapixel rear camera / 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera
- S Pen
- 211.3 x 136.3 x 7.95mm
- 330g
- 4600mAh
Judging from the specs list, the Galaxy Note 8.0 should be positioned as an midrange Android tablet. While there is no information on the type of processor used, Samsung may equip it with the previous generation Exynos 4 Quad processor to keep costs down. We are hoping to see the recently announced Exynos 5 Octa processor, but we reckon Samsung will reserve it for the Galaxy S IV.
