Samsung Galaxy S5 Specs Leaked, Mini and Zoom Variants in the Works
There's no stopping the rumor mill on the Samsung Galaxy S5 as SamMobile just obtained information on its specs and the upcoming variants in the pipeline.
According to SamMobile, its source confirms the Galaxy S5 will come in both metal and plastic variants. Similar to Apple's strategy with the iPhone 5S and 5C, Samsung is also pricing the two models at different price points. The metal model is said to cost 800 euros while the plastic model will cost about 650 euros.
The Galaxy S5 will sport an AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels although the screen size is not known at this moment. Samsung will equip the flagship smartphone with a 16-megapixel rear camera sensor.
Like the current Galaxy S4, the Galaxy S5 will be powered by either the Exynos 6 processor or the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core processor which is likely to be determined by markets and regions. Not surprisingly, the Galaxy S5 will run on Android 4.4 KitKat.
Aside from the Galaxy S5, Samsung also will be launching a Mini and Zoom variant of the Galaxy S5. The Galaxy S5 Mini is said to be released in June while the Galaxy S5 Zoom will be launched in May. Both devices will run on Android 4.4 KitKat and have Super AMOLED displays.
Samsung will be holding a launch event for the Galaxy S5 by April with London as the likely location this year. The South Korean company has been rumored in the recent months to be working on a metallic Galaxy smartphone which goes in line with SamMobile's latest report.
The first quarter of 2014 is likely to be a very busy period for Samsung. It has already launched four new tablets at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014 and is widely speculated to be announcing more mobile devices in the coming months.
