Samsung Announces 7-inch Galaxy Tab 3, Runs on Android 4.1 and Makes Calls

Samsung today unveiled the newest member to its Galaxy Tab family - the Galaxy Tab 3.

Looking very much similar like the Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0), the Galaxy Tab 3 runs on a slightly faster dual-core 1.2GHz processor, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, 1GB RAM and has 8GB or 16GB internal storage capacity. It has a microSD card slot that supports memory cards up to 64GB. Oddly, Samsung chose to retain the same display resolution (1024 x 600 pixels) on the Galaxy Tab 3. Other specs include:

  • 3-megapixel rear camera
  • 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera
  • Bluetooth 3.0
  • 111.1 x 188.0 x 9.9mm
  • 302g (Wi-Fi), 306 (3G)
  • 4000mAh

The Galaxy Tab 3 7-inch (Wi-Fi) version will be available globally beginning May and the 3G version will follow in June. The product availability varies by market and will be rolled out gradually. ASUS recently launched the Fonepad, the world's first world's first 7-inch Intel Lexington tablet. It is retailing at a retail price of $369. Let's see how the two tablets fare in the table below:
