2014 is just a day away, but Samsung seems to have the new year planned out with product announcements.
According to The Korean Herald, Samsung is likely to launch the Galaxy Gear 2 smart watch and Galaxy Band at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014. An analyst at IBK Securities told the publication that Samsung is working on the next generation smart watch and is on track for a release early next year.
Another anonymous source claims "it's a high possibility" that the Galaxy Gear 2 will be under the spotlight at MWC 2014. While the specs of the Galaxy Gear 2 are not known at the moment, it is believed that Samsung will equip the smart watch with a flexible organic light-emitting diode display.
The Galaxy Band, on the other hand, is said to be a health and fitness wristband which can monitor pulse and blood pressure. Samsung is not the only one to be working on such devices. Four days ago, LG was reported to working on a smart watch called the G-Arch and a fitness wristband called the G-Health for release at MWC 2014.
Besides the Galaxy Gear 2 and Galaxy Band, Samsung is rumored to be releasing its first Tizen OS smartphone, a smartphone with 2K (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) display, and the Galaxy Note 3 Lite at MWC 2014. Samsung also has plans for Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014 as it is alleged to be unveiling a 10.5-inch AMOLED tablet.
Although the Samsung Galaxy Gear did not garner positive reviews, a company's executive has stepped forward to defend the device and commented that not enough people are giving Samsung the credits for innovating and getting it into the market. Samsung even released a commercial promoting the Galaxy Gear as a device that can help guys snag a date with the ladies.
