Roccat and Alienware announce exclusive partnership

Roccat's known for their gaming peripherals while Alienware is a maker of premium gaming machines.

Alienware and Roccat have just announced that they'll be entering into an exclusive partnership with each other for the foreseeable future.

While it's still unclear how comprehensive this partnership (we don't know if future Alienware systems will come with Roccat gear for example), for now the partnership just extends to Roccat integration with Alienware's AlienFX lighting system. Compatible peripherals are the Isku FX, the Kone XTD and the Tyon.

The Isku FX is a gaming keyboard with a host of custom features ranging from macros to thumb keys.

The Kone XTD is an 8200 DPI mouse that boasts zero lag and custom programmable macros.

The Tyon is Roccat's first mouse with the Dorsal Fin-Switch, a button that's located below the mouse wheel.

Drivers for the compatibility update will roll out soon, with a time frame set from now till the end of November.

There are currently a number of games compatible with the AlienFX lighting system, with the latest being WB Games' seminal Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor. Other games include Payday 2, Gauntlet and League of Legends.

Questions still linger on our minds though. Will there be a complete overhaul of the AlienFX editor to incorporate the Roccat peripherals? If not, how exactly will the Roccat peripheral's lighting be integrated with the AlienFX system? We've reached out to Roccat on these matters and we'll update the news when we get answers.

What we do know is that this is only the first step of the partnership, so expect to hear more  as it develops.
