Regional Short Film Platform Viddsee Partners with Tropfest SEA to Show Finalist Films

Regional Short Film Platform Viddsee Partners with Tropfest SEA to Showcase Films

Viddsee, a regional platform for Southeast Asian short films, has announced a partnership with Tropfest SEA to screen finalist films from the short film festival.

Viddsee was co-founded by filmmaker-engineers Ho Jia Jian and Derek Tan for Southeast Asian short filmmakers and viewers. "Viddsee is a targeted platform for short films around SEA," co-founder Tan says. "How we aim to differentiate from YouTube is to provide a destination platform for quality micro-cinema short films. With a wide range of content on YouTube, we realized that short films tend to drown and relation between other quality short films is lost. You might say that's why Vimeo comes in - but then again, we don't see Asian content surfacing as Vimeo focuses their efforts in the US. Where Viddsee sits is a little like the Vimeo of Asia."

Tropfest is an international short film festival, the Southeast Asian edition of the festival and competition will debut in Penang, Malaysia, on 24th and 25th January 2014. Tropfest SEA 2014 is open to citizens and residents of Southeast Asia now, and the finalist films will be shown on Viddsee after the first public live screening and judging on 25th January.
