Redesigned Yahoo Mail Focuses on Speed and Mobile

Yahoo announced Tuesday that there will be a new look for Yahoo Mail. The redesign places heavy emphasis on speed and efficiency, not unlike the changes Microsoft made to Hotmail with Outlook a couple of months back.
The revamped Yahoo Mail web client will be introduced in the next few days along with the existing Android Yahoo Mail app. Yahoo also took the chance to introduce apps for the iPhone and Windows 8 platform in an effort to cover the spectrum of mobile platforms.
However, do note that the Yahoo app on iTunes is only available for the iPhone instead of the entire suite of iOS-based devices.
According to Wired, Yahoo is still very much in the e-mail game with 105 million daily users. Yahoo Mail currently holds the number one spot in the U.S. in terms of user base, ahead of rivals like Gmail and Hotmail, although it's ranked third globally.
"We’ve redesigned the new version of Yahoo! Mail with speed in mind -- getting through your emails is faster than ever before. We’ve also made your inbox more intuitive and easier to navigate, allowing you to focus on what matters most: your messages. And, because mobile is everything these days, Yahoo! Mail now has a consistent look and feel across devices," Yahoo CEO, Marissa Mayer wrote in a Yahoo corporate blog post.
