Razer's new mouse mat displays 16.8 million colors

Last year, Razer added customizable glowing LEDs to many of its products - keyboards, mice, even headphones (which you can't even see when you're wearing them). Now its back with the undeniable pièce de résistance: the Razer Firefly, a glowing mouse mat capable of displaying 16.8 million colors.

The Razer Firefly has lighting along its left, right and bottom borders and, like Razer's other Chroma line of peripherals, the Firefly's colors can be customized and set to glow in different patterns, producing a wave effect or cycling through the whole spectrum. You can even sync the mat's colors to match your other Chroma peripherals.

The Firefly has a thin, hard design, with a micro-texture finish. It's also probably unique in being the only mouse mat with a gold-plated USB connector (to power the lighting).

“The Razer Firefly opens up a new category for the Chroma family,” said Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO. “We’ve designed the Razer Firefly with the best components for a gaming mouse mat, along with the new, fully-customizable Chroma lighting. No one said you can’t win with style.”

The Firefly will retail for US$59.99. You can preorder one today with units scheduled to begin shipping out in June.
