Razer redesigns their Kraken Pro V2 and Kraken 7.1 V2 gaming headsets
Today, Razer announced the new Razer Kraken Pro V2 and the Razer Kraken 7.1 V2 gaming headsets. The redesigned headphones feature bigger drivers for improved sound, a new durable frame, as well as other tweaks in order to better cater to e-sports athletes and hardcore gamers.
Both the Razer Kraken Pro V2 and the Kraken 7.1 V2 get all new 50mm drivers, a step up from their old 40mm driver size. They too, get a durable uni-body aluminum frame instead of their traditional gaudy plastic appearance. According to Razer, they’ve tested the new aluminum body has been tested extensively to withstand drops, bends, rough handling, and more.
With the changes to the frame material, Razer also went on to redesign the weight distribution and clamping force of the Kraken headsets for better comfort during longer gaming sessions. Ear cushions are now larger, conforming to a wider range of ear sizes, and they are now interchangeable. Gamers can choose between a circular or oval-shaped design for a better fit. The oval-shaped cups are sold separately from the headsets.
Both gaming headphones also come with a built-in retractable microphone. The Kraken 7.1 V2 headset is a little more special since it features virtual 7.1 positional audio, and its microphone has active noise-cancelling features (PC only, requires Razer Synapse software to activate).
“We designed the Razer Kraken V2 headsets to deliver the best e-sports-focused experience,” says Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO. “Pro-gaming athletes of today will excel thanks to the Razer Kraken V2’s powerful 50mm custom-tuned drivers, highly durable unibody aluminum frame and redesigned ergonomics for maximum comfort.”
