Qualcomm Reveals Details of Lower-End Snapdragon 400 and 200 Processor
Qualcomm has revealed the specifications of the new Snapdragon 400 and 200 processors. These new chips are targeted at mid-tier and entry level smartphones; unlike their high-end counterparts, the beefier Snapdragon 800 and 600 processors.

The Snapdragon 400 processor features two CPU options; dual Krait CPUs clocked at up to 1.7GHz per core or a quad ARM Cortex-A7 running up to 1.4GHz per core alongside an Adreno 305 GPU. Its RAM support options include either LPDDR2 or LPDDR3 (Low Power Double Data Rate) ones. It will also support modem technologies that include TDSCDMA, DC-HSPA+ (42Mbps), 1x Advanced, W+G CDMA, and multi-SIM capabilities of Dual-SIM, Dual Standby (DSDS) and Dual SIM, Dual Active (DSDA). In terms of AV capabilities, the chip can be paired with camera sensors rated up to 13.5-megapixel that support full HD video capture. The Snapdragon 400 processor also supports Miracast Wi-Fi Display Technology.
The lower-end Snapdragon 200 processor will comprise quad ARM Cortex-A5 CPUs; rated up to 1.4GHz per core, alongside an Adreno 203 GPU, with support for LPDDR2 RAM. The processor is able to support camera sensors rated up to 8-megapixel and supports HD video playback. Its modem technology options include CDMA multimode/UMTS . It features multi-SIM capabilities of Dual-SIM as well as DSDS.
There are no further details on the availability of handsets that feature these new Snapdragon processors; however, with MWC 2013 around the corner, we may expect Qualcomm to reveal them very soon.
