Photos and specs of Samsung Galaxy Alpha smartphone leaked
Rumors on the Samsung Galaxy Alpha smartphone have reached fever pitch with one of the most extensive leaks yesterday.
Thanks to SamMobile, we now have a better look at the alleged Galaxy Alpha smartphone which was previously thought to be a new line of flagship devices that sit between the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note devices. SamMobile's source claims that the Galaxy Alpha is just a step up from the recently announced Galaxy S5 Mini and will be positioned as another variant of the Galaxy S5 family.
Nonetheless, the Galaxy Alpha is still a high-end device with a 4.7-inch display. Its display resolution is not known at the moment, but we think it is unlikely to be a Quad-HD panel since Samsung would rather save it for its premium devices such as the Galaxy S5 LTE-A. The Galaxy Alpha will sport a nano-SIM card slot, a fingerprint scanner and 32GB internal storage with no microSD card slot.
To date, we have seen many leaked photos claiming to show the Galaxy Alpha smartphone. Two months ago, three photos and videos of a device surfaced on the Internet, which showed a device clad in aluminum finish. Back then, the source of the leaks asserted that it could be a pre-production prototype and the final design might differ. In June, PhoneArena published a set of photos showing a Galaxy smartphone with a brushed metal rear cover.
Samsung is rumored to be launching the Galaxy Alpha on August 13 and retail availability is scheduled a month later. It seems like Samsung is trying to steal some thunder from Apple's expected launch of its iPhone 6.
