Photographers: Join the first ever Magnum Photography Awards and get a chance to stand with the greats

Magnum Photos represents some of the most renowned photographers in the world, living or dead. Chances are good that you’ve seen a Magnum photograph somewhere, whether you’re a photography buff or not — that’s how iconic they are.

Magnum Photos is celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2017, and ahead of the year’s worth of celebrations, the collective is partnering with LensCulture for the first ever Magnum Photography Awards.

The competition is open to all, and a distinguished jury will select 12 Winners and 20 Finalists from Documentary, Street, Portrait, Fine Art, Photojournalism and Open categories. The jury will also select seven photographers as ‘Jurors’ Picks’ and give out five ‘Student Spotlight’ awards to young talents.

Participants can enter the contest using a series of work, with 10 photos reviewed as one entry for US$60, or as five single photos reviewed as five separate entries for US$50. You can also submit a single photo for US$20, with US$10 for each additional photo. Students can get 30% off their entry fees.

Awards include US$2,000 for each winning Series, and US$1,000 for each winning Single Image, in the Documentary, Portrait, Street, Photojournalism, Fine Art and Open categories. All selected work will get multiple chances for exposure, including an online Magnum Photography Awards online exhibition, festival projections at over 30 international photo festivals, and international press exposure.

Submissions for the Magnum Photography Awards 2016 close on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, so hurry up if you want to take part.
