Pepsi is launching a smartphone in China

If you've ever thought, "the only thing stopping me from buying a mid-range Android phablet is the lack of sugary carbonated beverage branding" good news, Pepsi has decided that the competitive mid-range smartphone market is the perfect place for it to be. Next week, it will be releasing the Pepsi P1. Yes, this is really happening.

According to a leak on sina.com, the Pepsi P1 will have a 5.5-inch Full HD display and will be powered by a Mediatek 1.7GHz MT6592 processor running Android 5.1 Lollipop with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. The rear camera appears to be a 13-megapixel module with a 5-megapixel front unit. The phone will be backed by a 3000mAh battery. The phone is rumored to cost just CNY 1,299 (~S$288), which is actually quite competitive for its specs.

The phone is scheduled to be officially announced on Tuesday, 20th October.
