Parallels launches Parallels Access 3.0 app with file sharing and Apple Watch app

Parallels has released an update to Parallels Access, its remote access app for Macs and PCs.

Parallels Access, available on both iOS and Android, lets you access your computer from a mobile device, from anywhere in the world, as long as you have a data connection. Launch the app, and it'll look just like you have your PC on your mobile device.

It sounds like using a mouse-based OS on a mobile device may be a hassle, but Parallels' 'applification' technology makes desktop apps behave like native touch apps (check out our Parallels Access 2.0 review to see how it works). Besides using the Parallels Access app, you can also access your computer through any other computer's browser and a secure Parallels account, no additional plug-ins or extensions needed.

Parallels Access 3.0 introduces a large file sharing feature that doesn't require a go-between cloud service, so you don't have to spend time uploading huge files before they can be shared. 3.0 also introduces a companion app for the Apple Watch, so you can see remote computers and start a connection right from your wrist.

It's not all just for work, Access 3.0 adds experimental support for Gaming Mode for iPad, so you can access and play your PC games right on the tablet. Access 3.0 has improved controls, with a control editor that lets users create customised touch-based command shortcuts to games like Diablo III, Elder Scroll: Skyrim, NFS Rivals, League of Legends and Borderlands 2.

Parallels Access is subscription-based. Existing subscribers will be automatically be able to enjoy the new features after they update their apps. For new users, Parallels Access 3.0 is available now for iOS and Android with a free one-week trial, after that individual subscriptions are US$19.99 for a year or US$34.99 for two years. A limited-time special offer is now on for new customers who purchase Parallels Access, for a two-year subscription at US$29.99.
