The new MacBook is one of the most compact and portable notebooks around and in its pursuit of portability, Apple has sacrificed standard-sized ports in favor of a single new USB Type-C port. Needless to say, adapters and hubs are a must for most users who wish to connect peripherals and even external drives to their MacBooks.

Recognizing this, OWC has just announced its new USB-C Dock, a dock designed specifically for Apple's new MacBooks. First of all, it will come in colors to match the MacBooks, this means gold, silver and space grey. More importantly, however, it would give your MacBooks just about all the ports it you need.

Up front there's an SD card card slot, a 3.5mm audio output jack and a USB Type-A port. Behind, users will find three more USB Type-A ports, a 3.5mm audio input jack, Ethernet jack, and a HDMI 1.4b port that will support 4K resolution and 30Hz refresh rates. There's also a USB Type-C port. It's worth noting too that all the USB ports will support the latest USB 3.1 standard. The only port lacking is a DisplayPort or Mini-DisplayPort.

OWC is releasing the USB-C Dock later this year in October and pre-orders are now open for US$129 (roughly S$175 at the time of writing).
