In an update on its blog, Opera has announced the release of Opera 30, highlighting a slew of new features like better tab management, sidebar extensions, and the ability to restore bookmarks.

When you have a lot of tabs open, switching between them can turn into quite a hassle. Opera 30 makes the logical assumption that you may find yourself returning frequently to recently-opened tabs, so it allows you to cycle through tabs in chronological order.

In addition, it offers tab previews in the form of a dropdown tab menu, so you can easily switch between tabs without having to hunt for them on the taskbar. Furthermore, hovering over the tab’s title brings up the contents of that window, in case the title proves unhelpful in jogging your memory about what you were looking at previously.

Opera 30 also introduces sidebar extensions, which allows you to add a little sidebar to the left of your browser window so you can perform other tasks while browsing the web. There are already several extensions available for this feature, like a calculator, a notepad and even TweetDeck.

This could come in really handy. For instance, you’ll be able to take notes while doing research on the web, which makes for a far more seamless experience than using Microsoft Word on top of your browser. The sidebar's width is also adjustable, so you can drag its right edge until you achieve the right balance between your main browser window and the extension you're using at the moment.

Opera has even added the ability to restore bookmarks. Many of us have probably deleted an important bookmark by accident, but Opera implements a separate trash folder that lets you restore anything you may have unwittingly removed.

Finally, Opera also included safeguards against logjam attacks by blocking browser-server exchanges that use less than 1024-bit Diffie Hellman (DH). Opera’s Android browser and Opera Mini have also been updated with these safeguards in place. For more details on the nature of logjam attacks, you can check out a dedicated piece by Opera here.

Opera 30 can be downloaded from Opera's website.
