Thanks to Xiaomi, it’s easy to get a good power bank at a very affordable price these days. The S$14 10,400mAh Mi Power Bank is especially value for money, and we’ve no hesitation recommending it to any smartphone or tablet user.

But if for some reason you don’t fancy what Lei Jun’s company is doing, know that fellow Chinese smartphone maker Oppo OnePlus will also be launching a high capacity power bank priced at US$14.99 next year.

Dubbed the OnePlus Power Bank, it has a nominal capacity of 10,000mAh, uses lithium-polymer rechargeable cells (hence explaining its slim profile), and comes in either sandstone black or silk white color options. OnePlus says it’ll charge the 3,100mAh OnePlus One smartphone 3 times, which if true, suggests an unbelievably efficient design.

Versus the popular Xiaomi 10,400mAh Mi Power Bank, this OnePlus Power Bank also has a 5V/2A input, so topping up its charge at the end of the day should be quite a fast affair (about 5.5 hours). However, unlike the Xiaomi power bank, the OnePlus power bank has not one, but two 5V/2A output ports, so you can charge two devices at the same time (there’s no word on combined output rate).
