Olympus Introduces Two Stylus Compacts & OM-D E-M5 Pro Lens Kit

Olympus has announced two Stylus compact digital cameras, TG-850 Tough, and SP-100 EE, along with the OM-D E-M5 PRO Lens Kit.

Stylus TG-850

The first Tough series to be built with a tilting LCD screen for ease of self-portraits, this compact camera comes equipped with a 21mm super wide-angle lens, and is waterproof, dust-proof, shockproof, freeze-proof, and crush-proof. It can withstand harsh environments - waterproof to a depth of 10m, shockproof to a height of 2.1m, freeze-proof to -10 degrees Celsius, and crush-proof to a force 100kgf. Incorporating the iHS Technology, its 16-megapixel back-lit CMOS sensor and optical 5x zoom lens allows it to achieve high sensitivity, fast AF, and a fast start-up without compromising on noise. In addition to recording movies at 60fps, the new Hybrid 5-axis movie image stabilization helps compensate blurring when shooting movies while walking.

The Stylus TG-850 features a tilting LCD screen for easy selfies.

Stylus SP-100

The first digital camera to feature a built-in dot sight (Eagle's Eye) for effectively capturing subjects in telephoto photography, the SP-100 EE employs an optical 50x, 100x Super Resolution Zoom, Super High-powered Lens. Dot sights are presently available for attachment to a hot shoe as a camera accessory, but they pose some inconvenience as you need to reattach and readjust every time you need to use it.

On the SP-100 EE, the dot sight and flash are located in the top section that is designed with the Olympus Interchangeable lens camera OM-D pentaprism motif, and can be activated with a single press of lever. Like the TG-850, the new compact camera allows capturing of movies at 60fps, and integrates the Hybrid 5-axis movie image stabilization.

The dot sight makes it easy to track moving subjects even when you're fully zoomed in.

OM-D E-M5 PRO Lens Kit

With a black textured powder coating, the new Lens Kit comes bundled with M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-40mm f2.8 PRO, which was released earlier on. The grip sports a leather-like design, while the main dial and sub-dial have been refined for improved design and operability. Also, the new firmware v2.0 brings support of ISO LOW (equivalent to 100) and Small AF Target, to the camera.
