Olympus Announces Stylus XZ-10 Digital Compact Camera with Fast f/1.8-2.7 Lens
Updated 22/3/13: Olympus has confirmed that the XZ-10 will reach Singapore in March, with a retail price of S$548.
Olympus has announced the Stylus XZ-10, an enthusiast compact camera with a fast f/1.8-2.7 i.Zuiko Digital lens and 5x optical zoom (26-130mm in 35mm equivalent). The camera comes with a 1/2.3" 12MP backside illuminated CMOS sensor and the TruePic image processing engine, as well as the AF system designed for the Olympus PEN series.
The XZ-10 comes with a touch-screen and Touch AF Shutter, but unlike the XZ-2 the screen cannot tilt. The camera also comes with a control ring and Fn (Function) button. With a Toshiba FlashAir SD memory card, it can transfer images wirelessly to an Android or iPhone using the Olympus Ol.Share app.
Compared to the flagship compact XZ-2, the XZ-10 is more compact with a 40% smaller volume and is lighter by 125g. The sensor is smaller, but the focal length is slightly wider and longer, with 5x zoom compared to 4x. Lens speed is comparatively similar, with f/1.8-2.7 compared to the XZ-2's f/1.8-2.5. Battery life is weak, the XZ-10 can only shoot approx. 240 images with one charge.
The Olympus Stylus XZ-10 will launch in March with a retail price of £349.99.
