Nintendo shoots down the rumor that their NX console will use Android

Looks like Mario's next adventures will still be on a custom OS, at least on consoles.

Remember when we talked about how Nintendo might considering using Android as an OS for its NX console? Well, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal, that rumor is completely false.

A Nintendo spokesman has been quoted as saying, "There is no truth to the report saying that we are planning to adopt Android for NX."

It doesn't get more definitive than that. While it could be a smokescreen to draw attention away from the NX (especially since E3 is so near), more than likely it's the truth considering Nintendo has been using nothing but their own line of custom OS since the NES.

For now, if you want a recognized OS on a current console, it looks like the Xbox One is your best bet, with its customized version of Windows.
