Bose Updates VideoWave Home Theater System

Launched two years ago, the first VideoWave offering from Bose comprises mainly of a 46-inch LCD TV and an integrated home theater system.

More recently, the audio systems maker has updated their home entertainment line-up with the VideoWave II - complete with a larger 55-inch HDTV model which boasts of LED backlighting and a slimmer form factor. The 55-inch model bears a slightly thinner profile at 5.5 inches, while the 46-inch version of the VideoWave II will continue to retain a bulkier 6-inch depth akin to its CCFL-based predecessor. Other changes to its aesthetics include a new aluminum bezel and a matching click-pad remote to boot. Buyers can also expect a Full-HD (1080p) panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz.

The set's punchy audio delivery can be credited to Bose's Waveguide technology, powered by six woofers, plus a PhaseGuide sound radiator which projects mid to high frequencies with improved depth and clarity via seven mid-range drivers and three tweeters. Priced at US$5,999, the 55-inch VideoWave II is equipped with software that's just as intelligent as its hardware. Bose's ADAPTIQ audio technology allegedly achieves better surround sound and spatial qualities by "bouncing" sound waves off the room's ceiling and walls. The display also comes with an external console; equipped with four HDMI ports, two component, and a single composite port to ensure it is compatible with most AV systems.

The 46-inch LED backlit version of the VideoWave II is available at US$4,999. We'll update this news article accordingly once we've obtained the local prices from Bose's local distributor.
