Next-Gen Amazon Kindle Fire HD Tablet Specs Revealed
Google's upcoming Nexus 7 successor may have some stiff competition on its hands as specs of Amazon's next-gen Kindle Fire HD tablets have been revealed, and they look extremely impressive.
The next-gen Kindle Fire HD tablets will replace the previous models released in September last year, with the new models rumored to release around late-September this year.
The new 7-inch Kindle Fire HD tablet will feature a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution display and will be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) system on a chip, which includes four Krait 400 CPUs and Adreno 330 graphics, with prototypes said to be clocked at about 2GHz. It will also include 2GB RAM, a front-facing camera, Wi-FI, 4G LTE, and 16/32/64GB of internal storage.
A larger 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD will also be released with similar specs as the 7-inch model but with a 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution display and an 8-megapixel rear camera.
Both of the new tablets are said to be lighter than Amazon's previous Kindle Fire HD tablets, reportedly weighing in at just 395g for the 7-inch model and 566g for the 8.9-inch model.
