The new HP ZBook Studio is HP’s thinnest and lightest workstation yet

HP has announced the local launch of the ZBook Studio, a 15.6-inch workstation that attempts to redefine expectations surrounding notebooks of this category. While mobile workstations have tended to be heavy, thick, and clunky, the ZBook Studio’s renewed focus on design has resulted in a compelling blend of style and business-class performance.

For starters, it weighs just 2kg and is only 18mm thick, so lugging it around won’t be as much of a chore as with other workstations of its class.

But the best part is that it still manages to pack a whole lot of performance under the hood, including an Intel Xeon processor and up to 32GB of ECC memory and 2TB of storage. Still, that’s not exactly a lot of storage for a notebook targeted at graphics professionals, and HP clearly has had to make some compromises to keep the notebook as light and slim as it is.

On top of that, it is equipped with an NVIDIA Quadro M1000M card with 4GB of GDDR5 memory and a plethora of connectivity ports, including not one, but two, Thunderbolt 3 ports. These offer up to 40Gb/s of bandwidth, which is good news for professionals who constantly need to deal with large file transfers.

You can also opt for a 4K display that HP says can display more than 8 million colors.

In addition, HP introduced three other ZBook mobile workstations, in the form of the ZBook 15, ZBook 15u, and ZBook 17. All three have been updated with the latest hardware, and are considerably slimmer and lighter than their predecessors. The ZBook 17 even offers up to 4TB of total storage, so professionals who need more space may gravitate toward that model.

The HP ZBook Studio is already available now at a starting price of S$3,000, while the ZBook 15 and 17 both start at S$3,600.
