NEC's new UM series ultra-short-throw LCD projectors offer improved interactive capabilities

NEC Asia Pacific has launched four new projectors in its UM series of ultra-short-throw LCD projectors: the UM301W, UM301X, UM351W, and UM361X. Designed for schools and workplace use, these projectors offer significant improvements in terms of performance and cost of ownership compared to earlier models.

Key features of these projectors include up to WXGA resolution (for model names ending with W; those ending with X are XGA models); 3,600 ANSI lumens brightness; integrated 20W speaker (which NEC says improves audio performance by 25% vs. earlier models); and wired and wireless connectivity powered by NEC’s Image Express Utility Lite software. The projectors also come with two HDMI inputs, one of which supports MHL for connecting to smart devices.

Another headline feature is the projectors’ table top projection capability, which transforms desktop or meeting tables to interactive tables. Multi-Pen and Multi-Touch Interactivity features are also available for all the models, after the addition of the optional NP03Wi Multi-Pen Kit and NP01TM Multi-Touch Kit. These kits turn any UM series projector into an interactive whiteboard solution that works on any surface.

The interactive solutions are also accompanied by a free DisplayNote NEC edition with a 5-connection license. DisplayNote allows the user to not only highlight and annotate, but also present from a mobile device (both Android and iOS).

The new NEC UM series projectors are now available in APAC.
